Bioinformatics Quality Assurance Specialist

Oxford Nanopore Technologies is a leading company in bioinformatics and genetic sequencing. We are seeking a talented Bioinformatics Quality Assurance Specialist to join our Customer Workflows Group.

As a Bioinformatics Quality Assurance Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and compliance of our bioinformatics software, data, and workflows. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a team dedicated to delivering cutting-edge technologies to the market.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Implement and maintain robust QA protocols and procedures for bioinformatics software development.
  • Execute comprehensive test plans to validate the quality and performance of our bioinformatics tools.
  • Guarantee the accuracy of bioinformatics data through rigorous validation processes.
  • Collaborate on the creation of detailed documentation for QA processes and test cases.
  • Ensure strict adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements in all QA activities.
  • Proactively identify areas for process improvement and implement best practices in QA methodologies.

Your Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Bioinformatics or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in bioinformatics QA or software testing.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and standards within the bioinformatics domain.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to analyze complex datasets effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, R, or Perl.
  • Familiarity with Git and continuous integration tools.
  • Experience with workflow management systems like Nextflow.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant certifications in quality assurance or software testing.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance in a clinical or research setting.
  • Knowledge of high-throughput sequencing data and bioinformatics analyses.
