Behavioural Support Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Behaviour Mentor to join our team at an alternative provision school in Liverpool. The successful candidate will provide dedicated support to our secondary students who have previously struggled in mainstream schools.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide individualized support to students who require additional help to stay engaged and motivated in their learning environment.
- Utilize your expertise in managing and responding to challenging behaviours effectively, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for all students.
- Apply your understanding of trauma-informed practices to support students with compassion and sensitivity, helping them build trust with staff.
- De-escalate potential conflicts and challenging situations calmly and professionally, promoting a positive and respectful atmosphere.
- Build strong relationships with students to help them feel comfortable and supported in their learning environment, working collaboratively with teachers and support staff to ensure effective support.
- Assist in the development and implementation of individualized learning plans tailored to each student's needs, helping them achieve their full potential.
- Proven experience working with secondary students in PRU settings or similar environments, with a strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with behavioural issues and trauma.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to use initiative and adapt to the needs of each student.
- Resilience, patience, and a positive attitude towards overcoming challenges, with a strong commitment to supporting students with complex needs.
The ideal candidate will be able to work well in high-pressure situations, with a strong understanding of the importance of building trust with students.
