Project Quantity Surveyor

Location : Stirling

As a Project Quantity Surveyor managing our contract with the Scottish Fire & Rescue Services, you will oversee and coordinate planned, preventative, and responsive maintenance while adhering to customer budgets. Your role will inherently involve championing Health & Safety and adopting a proactive approach to ensure work practices and processes meet quality and sustainability goals.

Your Role

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting tender processes using various contract forms.
  • Managing measurements, valuations, variations, payment applications, and final accounts.
  • Overseeing sub-contractor procurement, including contract forms and purchase orders.
  • Collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders to provide updates on active sites.
  • Working alongside the SFRS commercial team to ensure timely invoicing and preparation of final accounts for all projects.
  • Providing leadership and guidance to on-site contractors to ensure compliance with company and standard practices.
  • Identifying and reporting any risks associated with project delivery to your supervisor.
  • Maintaining trackers for tenders, purchase orders, contracts, and consultant agreements.

Requirements:

  • Degree qualified with a minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar capacity.
  • RICS qualification preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong understanding of NEC4, SBCC, and JCT contract forms; NEC4 knowledge is essential, and experience with NEC4 FM services contracts is advantageous.
  • Proven experience in managing construction projects across various sectors, either independently or as part of a larger team.
  • Ability to effectively communicate necessary information to sub-contractors and clients.
  • Awareness of current Safety, Health & Environmental regulations and quality standards.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the construction process and contract administration.

Ideal Candidate:

We seek an individual to oversee the commercial aspects of SFRS projects, from tender arrangements to contractor engagement and project completion. You will be responsible for meeting production, profitability, safety, and quality demands while managing contractors to ensure adherence to health and safety standards, scope, quality, and production targets. You will ensure compliance with designs and specifications, handling projects ranging from £500 to £1 million, including extensions, modular buildings, internal renovations, M&E improvements, re-roofing, and yard resurfacing. You will promote a collaborative working relationship between the project team and client representatives, ensuring our projects are consistently presented to the highest standards.
