We are a leading steel producer, committed to innovation and sustainability. Our Engineering Department is seeking a skilled Automation Specialist to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

As an Automation Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing specialist engineering support to our manufacturing production lines
  • Responding to plant breakdowns, diagnosing faults to ensure the line is running again as soon as possible
  • Carrying out design, software modifications, and improvements to the plant equipment while adhering to onsite software management systems
  • Working with our team to implement new technologies and improve processes

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Time served apprenticeship and educated to HNC level or above in an Electrical/Electronic/Instrumentation discipline
  • Significant experience working in a similar role or manufacturing environment
  • Experience with Allen Bradley Control/Compact Logix OR Siemens S7 PLC's
  • AC or DC Invertor drives, fault finding, commissioning, and programming
  • Instrumentation knowledge, maintaining and fault finding control loops
  • Some SCADA and HMI development experience
  • Good knowledge of health and safety
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Some knowledge of Hydraulic & Pneumatic systems
