Position Overview

We are currently seeking a permanent Automation Specialist to join our team. This position is perfect for individuals with strong interpersonal abilities and relevant experience in the manufacturing sector, enabling you to contribute effectively from day one.

Position: Automation Specialist

Compensation: £53,500 - £60,000 (based on experience) plus performance-related bonuses

Work Schedule: X4 on and X4 off, along with X5 18-day breaks annually

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering expert engineering support to production lines
  • Addressing equipment malfunctions promptly
  • Diagnosing issues to restore operations swiftly
  • Implementing software modifications and enhancements to machinery
  • Complying with onsite software management protocols
  • Identifying solutions through diagnostic support
  • Designing and executing PLC programming
  • Providing commissioning assistance for significant line upgrades
  • Documenting and maintaining electrical procedures
  • Executing new engineering projects
  • Investigating plant-related challenges

Essential Qualifications:

  • HNC level education (or higher) in Electrical, Electronic, or Instrumentation disciplines
  • Extensive experience in a similar role or manufacturing environment
  • Valid driving license and access to a vehicle
  • Proficiency with Allen Bradley Control/Compact Logix or Siemens S7 PLCs
  • Experience with AC or DC inverter drives, including troubleshooting, commissioning, and programming
  • Methodical approach to fault diagnosis
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Solid grasp of relay logic and capability to troubleshoot using engineering schematics
  • Knowledge of instrumentation, including maintenance and troubleshooting of control loops
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as DeviceNet, Profibus, Profinet, and TCP/IP
  • Experience in SCADA and HMI development
  • Basic understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
