Job Summary
Arla Foods Deutschland GmbH is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Food Laboratory Specialist to join our team at our Lockerbie Dairy facility. As a Food Laboratory Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and safety of our products by analyzing and evaluating raw materials, manufacturing processes, and finished goods.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct chemical and microbiological analysis of raw materials, manufacturing processes, and finished goods to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Perform micro analysis of samples using specified methods to identify any deviations from approved standards.
- Participate in product sensory panels to evaluate the taste, texture, and appearance of our products.
- Ensure that all quality and food safety checks are carried out satisfactorily and report any deviations to the Technical Team.
- Control and maintain the Non-conformance data base to track and address any quality issues.
- Ensure that all tasks are completed daily, weekly, and monthly as per schedule to maintain a high level of productivity.
- Control and maintain the Training Matrix to ensure that all employees are up-to-date with the latest training and certifications.
- Ensure that all Laboratory Documents are accurate, complete, and up-to-date.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory standards and procedures to maintain a high level of quality and safety.
- Ensure that all analytical equipment is properly maintained and calibrated to the required standards and schedules.
- Verify that raw materials and chemicals used in the laboratory are within acceptable date criteria.
Requirements
- Practical experience of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and knowledge of quality management systems.
- Microbiology testing experience is preferred but not essential.
- Experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment working within QA/Sensory.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interact with multiple levels within the organization as well as with external contractors.
- PC literate with the ability to interpret analytical and microbiological data.
- Working knowledge of SAP is advantageous.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work on a shift pattern (12h day shift including weekends and Bank holidays).
- Ability to be on the "On Call roster" for weekend cover.
