Medical Oncologist Breast Colorectal Research Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Consultant Clinical Oncologist with a strong interest in breast and colorectal cancer, as well as experience in the delivery of clinical trials. The successful candidate will join our team of experienced clinical oncologists who work together to provide a comprehensive oncology service for patients across the Trust.
Main Responsibilities- Conduct regular outpatient clinics to provide high-quality patient care
- Lead and deliver clinical trials, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
- Attend multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings to discuss patient cases and develop treatment plans
- Prescribe and oversee the administration of systemic anticancer therapies (SACT)
- Provide clinical supervision and guidance to non-medical staff
- Contribute to clinical governance and service development initiatives
- Participate in ward reviews and on-call duties
The appointee will work closely with colleagues in the Breast and Colorectal site reference groups, comprising a multi-professional team including clinical oncologists, medical oncologists, pharmacists, clinical nurse specialists, and cancer support workers. The new appointee will also contribute to teaching and supervision of medical students, junior medical staff, and allied health professionals/nurses.
Person Specification- Essential:
- Basic medical degree
- MB BS, FRCR or equivalent specialist qualification
- Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
- CCT in clinical oncology or equivalent
- Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 12 months of the start date
- Desirable:
- Higher degree
- Breadth of experience in and outside specialty
- Evidence of managerial skills: Achievements / Course attended
- Research experience
- Publications
- Prizes and honours
- Attend mandatory training updates as required
- Undertake training as necessary in line with the development of the post and as agreed with the line manager as part of the personal development process
- Actively participate in job planning and attend a divisional job planning review
- Achieve and demonstrate agreed standards of personal and professional development within agreed timescales
- Identify own learning needs and jointly plan training requirements with your line manager
- Participate in the Trust's appraisal process to discuss how your role will help deliver the best possible care to our patients and help to deliver any changes in service
