Medical Oncologist Breast Colorectal Research Specialist

Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Consultant Medical Oncologist to join our team at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will have a strong interest in breast and colorectal cancers and will be responsible for delivering high-quality clinical care to patients across Sussex.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The appointee will work alongside colleagues in the Breast and Colorectal site reference groups, comprising a multi-professional team including clinical oncologists, medical oncologists, pharmacists, clinical nurse specialists, and cancer support workers. Key duties will include regular outpatient clinics, clinical trial leadership and delivery, MDT attendance, SACT prescribing and oversight, clinical supervision of non-medical staff, clinical governance, service developments, ward reviews, and on-call commitments.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will have a basic medical degree, MB BS, FRCR, or equivalent specialist qualification, and full GMC registration with a license to practice. They will also have a CCT in clinical oncology or equivalent and be eligible for entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or have eligibility within 12 months of the starting fixed-term role.
Desirable Criteria
The appointee will have a higher degree, evidence of training in a broad spectrum of clinical oncology tumour sites, and an interest and training suitable for a CNS cancer clinical oncology post. They will also have breadth of experience in and outside the specialty, experience and ability to work in multi-professional teams, and understanding of NHS, clinical governance, and resource constraints.
Teaching and Supervision
The appointee will contribute to teaching and supervision of medical students, junior medical staff, and AHP/nurses. They will also participate in the Trust's appraisal process to discuss how their role will help deliver the best possible care to patients and help deliver any changes in service.
