Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity is available for a Band 6 Community Substance Misuse Nurse within the Anglesey Substance Misuse Service.

The selected candidate will be tasked with delivering thorough assessments and treatment strategies for individuals dealing with substance misuse. This includes conducting risk evaluations, addressing substance use issues, and understanding the social and psychological impacts of addiction. The role requires working independently in community environments, including clients' residences. The post holder will manage a caseload and guide individuals through their recovery journey. Additionally, they will oversee junior staff members and contribute to their professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will possess knowledge and experience in substance misuse treatment and interventions. They will utilize strong communication skills to engage, inspire, and maintain service users' connections with the support services. The role also involves the development and ongoing assessment of treatment plans tailored to individual needs. Induction processes will be customized based on the candidate's requirements and discussed during the selection process. The post holder will be expected to work with clients facing both alcohol and drug-related challenges. Welsh language proficiency is preferred for this position; however, applications from both Welsh and English speakers are welcomed.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential:

  • NMC Registration
  • Postgraduate qualification (diploma/degree) in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Understanding of professional boundaries

Desirable:

  • Academic qualification related to substance misuse

Experience

Essential:

  • Experience working as a Band 5 with enhanced competencies and specialized clinical knowledge
  • Ability to identify and respond to challenging behaviors

Desirable:

  • Experience in a community healthcare setting
  • Professional knowledge of substance misuse

Skills and Abilities
