Job Summary

As a key member of the Evans Concrete Products team, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of construction projects, from initial cost planning to final account settlement. They will ensure that projects are completed within budget, on time, and to the required quality standards. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in managing contracts, controlling costs, and mitigating financial risks. This position requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, effective communication, and the ability to influence and collaborate with various stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Cost Estimation and Budgeting

    • Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates and budgets.
    • Assess financial viability during the design phase, ensuring informed decision-making.
  2. Cost Control and Management

    • Provide timely and accurate cost reports, highlighting potential risks.
  3. Contract Administration

    • Ensure compliance with contract terms and manage claims and variations.
    • Resolve disputes effectively, maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders.
  4. Risk Management

    • Identify, assess, and mitigate financial and contractual risks.
    • Develop contingency plans and adapt strategies to unforeseen circumstances.
  5. Quality Assurance

    • Collaborate with project teams to enforce quality control procedures.
  6. Client Liaison

    • Provide updates and advice on project progress, cost implications, and financial forecasts.
  7. Procurement Advice

    • Evaluate and recommend the most effective procurement routes.
  8. Sustainability and Value Engineering

    • Apply value engineering techniques to optimize efficiency and reduce costs.
  9. Documentation and Reporting

    • Prepare comprehensive reports, financial statements, and maintain accurate records.
    • Ensure all documentation is clear, concise, and meets regulatory requirements.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Membership in the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in construction software (e.g. MS Project, AutoCad, Trimble).
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction law, NEC and JCT contracts, and procurement strategies.

  • Maintain a safe working environment.
  • Report any health, safety and/or environmental issues of concern.
  • Co-operate with employer on environmental, health and safety issues.
  • Reduce, reuse, and recycle materials.
