Quantity Surveyor Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Quantity Surveyor to manage the cost-related aspects of a critical infrastructure project in the Warwickshire area.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor project expenditure and identify potential cost overruns to mitigate financial risks.
  • Provide expert advice on cost management and commercial strategy to ensure the financial success of the project.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to negotiate contracts and resolve commercial issues.
  • Regularly report on financial performance, cost forecasting, and variance analysis to support project audits and compliance checks.
  • Effectively manage and communicate complex budgetary information to ensure the successful delivery of the project.
Requirements:
  • Strong analytical skills and a proven track record in cost management and quantity surveying within large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills to engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy in cost reporting and managing complex budgets.
  • Highly organized, capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously, and adaptable to the dynamic environment of a major infrastructure project.
  • A proactive problem-solver, expected to identify and address financial risks early.
  • Deep understanding of NEC contracts and comfort navigating the legal and regulatory frameworks governing large-scale projects.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in quantity surveying, focusing on large-scale infrastructure or railway projects.
  • Experience with NEC contracts and strong understanding of cost management software and financial reporting tools.
  • Track record of successfully managing budgets, delivering cost savings, and supporting the financial aspects of complex construction projects.
