Cargo Operations Administrative Specialist

Position Overview

Swissport is seeking motivated individuals to become part of our Cargo Operations team. This role involves providing essential administrative support within the cargo sector, which includes facilitating customs procedures, managing invoicing processes, performing basic reception tasks, and occasionally assisting in other warehouse functions.

Work Schedule:

This position follows a rotating schedule of 4 days on and 4 days off:

  • Day Shifts: Two consecutive 12-hour shifts during the day.
  • Night Shifts: Followed by two consecutive 12-hour shifts at night.

Key Responsibilities

Your daily tasks will include:

  • Assisting with the Customs Clearance Process
  • Managing Cash Invoicing
  • Handling the acceptance of high-value items, including hazardous materials, live animals, or sensitive cargo.
  • Performing reception duties such as welcoming clients and visitors, responding to phone inquiries, sorting mail, and maintaining filing systems.
  • Adhering to all applicable regulations, as well as airport authority and carrier security protocols.
  • Following Swissport's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Operating necessary equipment as required.
  • Carrying out additional warehouse responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

To excel in this position, candidates should possess the following:

  • A minimum of three GCSEs or equivalent qualifications.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Ability to commute to the airport during times when public transport is unavailable.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Competence in IT and the ability to learn specific airline software.
  • Capability to adhere to established processes and procedures while demonstrating adaptability when necessary.
  • Proven customer service skills.
  • A commitment to ongoing improvement.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work independently.
  • Previous experience in the aviation sector is preferred.
