Position Summary:
We are currently seeking experienced individuals for the role of Special Educational Needs Support Assistant within a specialized educational institution. This role is crucial in fostering a supportive learning environment for students with diverse needs.
Role Responsibilities:
The successful candidates will be responsible for assisting in the educational development of students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. The ideal candidates will possess a flexible and adaptable approach to meet the varying needs of students.
Key Qualifications:
While prior experience in SEN is advantageous, we welcome applicants who have relevant experience in at least two of the following areas:
- Youth Offending Services
- Support roles in Alternative Provision (AP) or Pupil Referral Units (PRU)
- Physical Intervention Training (e.g., Team Teach, SKIP, CPI, MAPA)
- Experience as a Teaching Assistant focusing on Social, Emotional, and Mental Health
Working Conditions:
This is a full-time position, operating Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 15:30. The role is offered on a long-term supply basis, with the potential for a permanent contract based on performance.
Compensation:
The daily rate for this position is £90, contingent upon experience.
About the Institution:
The institution caters to students with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP), primarily focusing on SEMH needs. Many students face significant challenges, and traditional educational settings may not be suitable for them. The institution prides itself on small class sizes and a dedicated staff that understands the complexities of SEMH.
Students often come from disrupted educational backgrounds, and the institution is committed to providing them with the opportunity to succeed academically and socially.
Collaboration and Support:
The staff work closely with parents, caregivers, and external agencies to facilitate positive behavioral changes and support each student's journey towards personal responsibility.
Requirements:
Applicants must possess an enhanced DBS registered on the update service. If a valid DBS is not held, candidates must be willing to apply for a new one. The cost of obtaining a DBS is a one-time fee, with an annual subscription for the update service.
For those who have resided in the UK for less than five years, a right to work visa and a criminal background check from any country lived in for six months or more within the past five years must be provided.
