Job Title: Advanced Hand Therapy Practitioner

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Advanced Hand Therapy Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary team at Mid Yorkshire NHS Teaching Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and expanding service, providing high-quality care to patients with hand and upper limb conditions.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have overall responsibility for the clinical delivery of hand physiotherapy and occupational therapy, working in partnership with the therapy team and wider multidisciplinary team. You will be expected to take on lead responsibilities for managing hand therapy trauma clinics and therapy-led elective/outpatient clinics, assessing, diagnosing, planning, and implementing pathways of care for a highly specialist caseload.

Main Duties
  • Take on lead responsibilities for managing hand therapy trauma clinics and therapy-led elective/outpatient clinics
  • Assess, diagnose, plan, and implement pathways of care for a highly specialist caseload
  • Work closely with the other advanced practitioners in hand therapy and form great working relationships with consultants
  • Deputise for the therapy service lead as required, delivering service improvements and providing expert clinical knowledge in relation to service development
  • Lead appropriate education and training of therapy staff and other healthcare professionals
  • Supervise other therapy practitioners working in plastics clinics, including responsibility for the competency framework and supervision of therapy staff working in clinics
Requirements
  • Degree in a relevant therapy profession or equivalent
  • Registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Educated to Masters degree level in advanced clinical practice or equivalent level of experience in a specialist area, including having relevant Masters modules
  • Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio, including attendance at recent and relevant postgraduate courses
  • Clinical Educators Course
  • Extensive evidence of training at a specialist level relevant to hand therapy
  • Injection therapy qualification or willingness to complete
  • Independent prescriber (if applicable to profession)
  • Management/leadership course
  • Research qualification
