About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Track Systems Technician to join our Track Systems team at Formula One. This is a challenging and rewarding role that involves the installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of our Standard Communication System.

Main Responsibilities
  • Deploy, commission, and decommission radio frequency installations around Grand Prix circuits, ensuring seamless communication between on-car systems and trackside sites.
  • Work at heights up to 5m using climbing safety harnesses, adhering to strict safety protocols.
  • Install, terminate, and test fibre optic and electrical cables, as well as electronic and RF equipment.
  • Operate light machinery and tools, including fibre optic and electrical cable installation equipment.
  • Perform electrical and radio frequency wiring and termination, ensuring high-quality connections.
  • Inspect, test, and fault-find optical, electrical, and electronic systems, utilizing specialized tools and measurement equipment.
  • Operate bespoke software applications to initiate, log, and monitor race and test sessions from the Media and Technology Centre or Event Technical Centre.
  • Analyze and fault-find system data and results, providing technical insights and recommendations.
  • Perform technical and mechanical maintenance and repair of fibre optic cable, radio frequency equipment, and tools.
  • Assist with heavy lifting and manual handling, adhering to safety guidelines.
  • Provide guidance, advice, and feedback to junior technicians, acting as a mentor and subject matter expert.
  • Liaise with other departments to plan and coordinate systems installation, ensuring seamless integration.
  • Maintain accurate equipment lists and update manifests as required.
Requirements
  • Higher National Diploma (HND), Higher National Certificate (HNC), NVQ Level 4, Foundation Degree, Diploma of Higher Education, or Vocational Qualification Level 5 in an engineering-related field (Electronic, Electrical, and RF Communications).
  • At least 2 years of experience in a similar practical role, with a strong background in manual work, installation, or rigging.
  • Proven ability to work in a busy and challenging environment, achieving specific objectives and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a systematic approach to fault-finding.
  • Ability to learn new technical systems and adapt to changing requirements.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills, with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
