About the Role

The London Borough of Harrow is seeking a highly skilled Deputy Director of Communications to enhance the council's strategic communications efforts and realise its vision. This role leads on the council's communications and engagement, managing a small team delivering design, internal communications, consultation, and engagement, as well as the council's publications, including a weekly newsletter and quarterly printed magazine.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  1. Experience in developing and delivering communications strategies, including online, news, media, digital, and campaigns.
  2. Proven budget management skills within a marketing and communications environment.
  3. Experience in overseeing design, digital, and print projects.
  4. Ability to provide guidance on complex decisions, cases, and projects within the council and the communications team, impacting the council's profile, reputation, or service level.
  5. Clear understanding and commitment to equality and diversity.

The successful applicant will be one of two Deputy Heads of Communications, supporting and deputising for the Head of Communications. They will be responsible for developing and delivering complex and high-risk communications campaigns and projects, ensuring the best outcomes for both customers and the council.
