Job Title: Head of RTW Product Development

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Head of RTW Product Development to join our team at Alfred Dunhill. As a key member of our product development team, you will be responsible for leading the development of our menswear products from design to product sign off.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the RTW product development team through all stages from design to product sign off, ensuring timely delivery and quality standards are met.
  • Collaborate with designers, product merchandising, and suppliers to ensure all relevant development steps are followed through and signed off.
  • Harmonise product flow development according to deadlines and workload, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Conduct strategic supplier selection to guarantee the best product, price, quality, and service.
  • Manage product development deadlines, including the main collection and fashion show.
  • Support the team in engineering products according to quality requirements and target costs.
  • Negotiate best costs and minimums to ensure flexibility with customers.
  • Ensure costs are in line with margin strategy.
  • Manage the database, ensuring all costs, product descriptions, MOQ, composition, and suppliers are accurately recorded and up-to-date.
Long-term Activities:
  • Re-evaluate the supplier base against cost of ownership, cost opportunities, and quality, in conjunction with merchandising, procurement, and quality teams.
  • Establish strong working relationships with existing manufacturing base to optimise service levels for development.
  • Explore alternative long-term sustainable manufacturing sources, in conjunction with the manufacture and supply team, which meet the Dunhill source strategy criteria.
  • Ensure suppliers' service level agreements, including confidentiality agreements, are in place, and new suppliers are onboarded in a timely manner.
  • Maintain detailed product specification sheets, detailing all aspects of the product development cycle, in conjunction with quality management.
  • Achieve the best possible balance between cost and quality, without compromising core brand values and timely delivery of product into the market.
  • Visit suppliers and attend relevant trade fairs as necessary.
Research and Development:
  • Ensure quality is built into the product during the development process.
  • Bring innovation to products through material research and product innovation, exploring new materials and techniques.
Requirements:
  • Significant experience in product development for RTW menswear.
  • Proven experience as a product development manager.
  • Solid experience in managing and developing a team.
  • Experience creating and controlling a product development department budget.
  • Proven experience in a role requiring strong organisational and administrative skills, accuracy, attention to detail, and prioritisation of a diverse workload.
  • Relationships with fabric suppliers, makers, and trim suppliers in Europe and Asia.
  • Experience dealing and communicating with international suppliers.
  • Ability to communicate across different levels and functions within the business.
  • Team player, with the ability to delegate.
  • Proven management and leadership skills.
  • Strong project and time management skills.
  • Ability to present and sell concepts and ideas to others.
  • Well-organised and process-driven.
  • Methodical approach and strong accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Able to work under pressure and prioritise.
  • Excellent communication skills, personable with all levels.
  • Strong understanding of luxury menswear development flow.
  • Strong understanding and ability to interpret designs into product.
  • Strong understanding of fabrics and RTW trims, ability to select according to the end product required.
  • Ability to deal with change.
  • Strong creative thinking.
  • Ability to drive the development of menswear to the next stage, in line with brand direction.
  • Able to travel to the UK, Europe, and Asia as required.
