The Role
We are seeking a skilled Claims Handler to join our team. As a Claims Handler, you will be responsible for handling claims from the first notification of loss through to the final adjustment and settlement. You will work closely with our claims manager and other adjusters to ensure that claims are handled efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and triage first notifications of loss
- Liaise with brokers and underwriters to progress claims
- Appoint surveyors, lawyers, and other experts to progress claims
- Collect and review documents related to claims
- Contribute to settlement negotiations with insureds
- Participate in regular claims conference calls to discuss claim progression
- Manage experts to ensure adherence to agreed scope of works
- Check and approve invoices for payment
- Ensure claims management systems are up to date
Person Specification
- 5 years claims experience in a TPA or underwriter role
- A Level education
- Comfortable learning bespoke IT systems
- Attention to detail and accuracy in recording information
- Numerate and good communication skills
- Customer-centric and a team player
