Job Summary:

Norse Group is seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer to join our Exeter-based team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for driving and delivering works across the discipline, holding responsibility for the technical and commercial management of major projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Completing planned work programmes and projects to timeframes and with budget.
  • Managing client needs, defining project technical specifications, managing costs, fees, and commercial requirements, and ensuring that projects are delivered to client satisfaction.
  • Assisting the relevant director in managing engineering resources across the Structural Engineering team.
  • Supporting business development activity to enhance, grow, and diversify the engineering capabilities.
  • Managing the implementation of best practice in the Structural Engineering team.
  • Leading major projects ensuring that they are delivered to the specification.
  • Preparing designs, calculations, specifications, drawings, and carrying out risk assessments for improvement, refurbishment, and new building schemes, tendering documents, and supervising works to completion, including agreeing interim and final accounts.
  • Preparing schedules of dilapidations, improvement schemes, drawings, and specifications, structural surveys, and insurance reinstatement schemes.
  • Responding to emergency requests for action or advice regarding dangerous buildings. Attending and advising on incidents.
  • Providing advice to clients in respect of construction and refurbishment projects and actively promoting surveying services on a fee-paying basis.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in an Structural Engineering related discipline.
  • Professional membership of the Institute of Structural Engineers and be working or prepared to work towards Chartered status.
  • Holds a current site card or is prepared to immediately attain.
  • Conversant with Health and Safety legislation.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD.
  • Familiar with relevant construction, health, and safety legislation and risks and hazards associated with asbestos.
