Trainee Project Manager - Technical Apprenticeship

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and ambitious individual to join our team as a Trainee Project Manager. This two-year programme is designed to develop your understanding of delivering projects in line with clear objectives and making decisions to manage stakeholder expectations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work alongside a multi-skilled team to deliver projects to time, cost, and quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to plan, execute, and monitor projects, ensuring timely completion of project tasks and deliverables.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to understand project needs and goals while demonstrating SSE core values.
  • Develop a clear understanding of safety management systems and best practices, ensuring project teams align with our safety culture.
  • Lead Large Capital Projects, delivering substation, overhead line, and cable projects ranging in value from £10m to £2bn.
  • Gain real hands-on experience on our key sites, build an invaluable network, and develop a unique set of skills which will shape your career.
  • Work in a structured yet challenging development programme where you will have the support of the Learning and Development team and a business mentor to assist you in reaching your full potential.
  • Be assigned a Project Manager to help manage your day-to-day activities on site, ensuring that you get the breadth of knowledge and experience to help you complete your training.

Requirements:
  • Flexible in your approach to work to maximise your chances of success, and you should be happy working alone or as part of a team.
  • Hold a full UK Driver's Licence, or be in the process of learning to drive, as there will be a requirement to travel to a number of our project sites.
