Opportunity Summary

An exceptional opportunity exists within Westminster CAMHS for a substantive Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. This role focuses on the management of neurodevelopmental disorders, providing a vital service to young individuals aged 0-18 years with moderate to severe mental health complexities.

Westminster CAMHS aims to cultivate a multidisciplinary team that excels in clinical quality and prioritizes patient involvement. The team engages in regular professional development sessions and management meetings, fostering a collaborative environment.

Role Responsibilities
  • Lead the neurodevelopmental and learning disability pathway.
  • Deliver direct clinical care to young patients and their families, particularly those with intricate mental health needs.
  • Support the multidisciplinary team (MDT) in managing complex cases.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments, including psychiatric evaluations and risk assessments.
  • Initiate and oversee pharmacological treatments as necessary.
  • Provide psychiatric consultation to the MDT and broader CAMHS team.
Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

  • A primary medical degree.
  • A relevant postgraduate qualification in child and adolescent psychiatry.
  • Inclusion on the Specialist Register for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (or CCT anticipated within six months).
  • Completed training for the Clinical Supervisor role or a willingness to undergo training.
  • Knowledge of clinical governance and care quality standards.
  • Experience in medical audit and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in teaching and supervising junior staff across various disciplines.
  • Expertise in assessing and managing complex cases involving high-risk emotional disorders and neurodevelopmental conditions.
  • Management training and experience in pediatrics.
Personal Attributes

This position is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975, necessitating a Disclosure submission to the Disclosure and Barring Service for any prior criminal convictions.
