Healthcare Support Worker

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Healthcare Support Worker to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in delivering exceptional care to our patients, assisting with a range of clinical and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct patient care, including taking vital signs, assisting with personal hygiene, and supporting mobility.
  • Prepare treatment rooms and ensure they are clean and well-stocked.
  • Assist healthcare professionals with procedures as required.
  • Answer phones, schedule appointments, and manage patient records.
  • Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for patients and staff.
Skills and Qualifications:

Essential Requirements:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to providing high-quality care.
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Have strong IT skills, including the ability to create simple plans and reports.
  • Be proficient in using Office and Outlook software.
  • Exhibit effective time management skills, with the ability to plan and organize tasks efficiently.
  • Work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Maintain composure and work effectively under pressure.
  • Treat patients and their relatives with care and professionalism.
  • Be competent in skills such as electrocardiogram (ECG) and phlebotomy.

Knowledge:

  • Have a general understanding of personalized care, well-being, community services, and developments.
  • Possess knowledge of frailty, multi-morbidity, and/or complex conditions.
  • Understand environmental factors and their impact on communities.

Additional Requirements:

  • Hold a full UK driving licence, have access to your own transport, and be willing to travel regularly across the network, including visiting patients in their homes.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Be flexible with working hours to meet work demands.

Qualifications:

  • Hold 2 A-levels or GCSEs at grade C or above, including English and Maths.
  • Possess a CARE Certificate.
  • Have demonstrated further learning through an apprenticeship, higher development award, or NVQ level 3 relevant to healthcare.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Hold Assessors training/certificate.

Experience:

  • Have a minimum of 6 months of experience in a care setting.
  • Previous NHS experience is advantageous.
  • Experience working effectively within a team environment.
  • Experience interacting with vulnerable individuals.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience as a health advisor/trainer.
  • Experience in partnership/collaborative working and building relationships across various organizations.
