About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Healthcare Assistant to join our paediatric team within the Children's Unit at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our young patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in creating a welcoming and non-threatening environment for children and their families.
  • Support patient care according to individual care plans and under the supervision of trained staff.
  • Carry out delegated nursing tasks, subject to monitoring and evaluation by senior staff.
  • Contribute to the wellbeing of patients, ensuring their comfort and dignity are maintained.
  • Deliver food and drinks to babies and children in line with their care plans, including the preparation of infant formula feeds.
  • Escort patients to other departments in the hospital and regional centers for investigations as required.
  • Assist in ensuring a high level of quality care is provided to patients attending the department.
  • Work collaboratively as part of the healthcare team.
  • Attend briefings, meetings, and training sessions as required.
Person Specification

We are looking for an individual with the following skills and qualifications:

  • GCSE or equivalent in English Language and Maths, or the ability to demonstrate competency in these areas.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Care (or other relevant subject).
  • A desire and ability to undertake appropriate training.
  • Documented evidence of Continuing Professional Development (desirable).
  • Evidence of working with babies/children and young people.
  • A good understanding of the role of the Healthcare Support Worker.
  • Experience of working within a healthcare environment (desirable).
  • Ability to communicate clearly in written and spoken English.
  • Basic IT skills.
  • Good organisation skills.
  • Demonstrate a positive approach to team working.
  • Venepuncture (desirable).
