Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Band 2 Healthcare Assistant to join our paediatric team within the Children's Unit. This role offers the chance to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, providing high-quality care to children and their families.

Main Duties

As a Healthcare Support Worker, you will assist the nursing team in delivering a high standard of care, prioritizing the needs of children and their families. Your role will involve:

  • Providing a welcoming and non-threatening environment for children and their families
  • Assisting with patient care according to the care plan and under supervision of trained staff
  • Carrying out delegated nursing tasks subject to monitoring and evaluation by senior staff
  • Contributing to the wellbeing of patients, ensuring their comfort and dignity is maintained
  • Delivering food and drinks to babies and children in line with their care plan
  • Escorting patients to other departments in the hospital and regional centres for investigations as required
  • Assisting in ensuring that a high level of quality care is offered to patients attending the department

Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • GCSE or equivalent in English Language and Maths or can demonstrate competency in the above
  • NVQ Level 2 in Care (or other relevant subject)
  • Desire and ability to undertake appropriate training

Desirable qualifications include:

  • Documented evidence of Continuing Professional Development
  • Experience of working within a healthcare environment
