Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Band 2 Healthcare Assistant to join our paediatric team within the Children's Unit. While this position is for a Band 2, successful candidates who meet the necessary criteria will be offered a Band 3 role in line with the recent re-banding of HCA's. For candidates who do not meet the Band 3 criteria on appointment, we will expedite relevant training to support their development.

Main Duties

As a Healthcare Support Worker, you will support the nursing team to deliver high-quality care while prioritizing the needs of children and their families. You will be part of an enthusiastic, friendly, and hardworking team, working in a busy environment that requires flexibility and excellent communication skills.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in providing a welcoming and non-threatening environment for children and their families.
  • Supporting patient care according to the care plan and under the supervision of trained staff.
  • Carrying out delegated nursing tasks, subject to monitoring and evaluation by senior staff.
  • Contributing to the wellbeing of patients, ensuring their comfort and dignity are maintained.
  • Delivering food and drinks to babies and children in line with their care plan, including making up infant formula feeds.
  • Escorting patients to other departments in the hospital and regional centres for investigations as required.
  • Ensuring a high level of quality care is offered to patients attending the department.
  • Working as part of the healthcare team at all times.
  • Attending briefings, meetings, and training sessions as required.
