Job Title: Youth Behaviour Mentor

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Behaviour Mentor to join our team at Teaching Personnel. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing one-on-one and group support to students, helping them develop appropriate social skills and coping strategies. You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support to students with SEMH needs, including those exhibiting challenging and anti-social behavior.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of engaging lessons across a range of subjects.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, encouraging students to develop confidence and independence.
  • Support students with their emotional and behavioral development through effective communication and behavior management strategies.
  • Implement and reinforce individualized behavior plans to help students manage their actions and emotions.
  • Assist in monitoring and recording students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as needed.
  • Supervise students during non-classroom activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
Requirements
  • Experience working with children with SEMH needs, preferably in a PRU or similar setting.
  • Proven ability to manage challenging and anti-social behavior in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to changing situations and challenges.
  • A patient, compassionate, and resilient approach, with the ability to remain calm and supportive in difficult situations.
