Job Title: Attendance Support Mentor

We are seeking an experienced Attendance Support Mentor to join our team at New Directions Education Ltd. As an Attendance Support Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting students with SEMH needs and improving attendance across the school.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and provide learning support for students in small groups and one-to-one basis.
  • Support teaching and learning at GCSE and Functional Skills level.
  • Assist with outreach work for learners who struggle with attendance.
  • Work with senior leaders to improve attendance across the school.
  • Assist with the development of individual education and behavioural plans.
  • Establish trusting relationships with pupils, parents, and interact with them according to individual needs and personalities.
Requirements:
  • Experience working in the care, youth work, coaching, or education sector.
  • Strong understanding of SEND, specifically SEMH.
  • Experience of de-escalating challenging behaviour.
  • Outgoing, fun, and engaging personality.
  • Willingness to support children of all abilities and needs.
  • Experience of behaviour management and de-escalation.
  • Positive and ambitious attitude to learning and attendance.
