Job Title: Examiner for IELTS Speaking Test

Job Summary:

Mobile Testing Solutions Ltd (MTS) is a leading global provider of exam services for various exam boards across the UK and Ireland, as well as an online exam preparation school. We are currently seeking highly skilled and experienced Examiners for IELTS Speaking Tests to work on a part-time basis in Bradford.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Face-to-Face IELTS Exam Speaking Section Interviews: Examiners will be responsible for conducting face-to-face IELTS exam speaking section interviews and carrying out assessments for the IELTS speaking section, maintaining the standards required by the IELTS Professional Support Network (PSN) and the British Council.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Examiners will be required to assess and evaluate the speaking skills of test takers, providing accurate and reliable feedback to support their language development.
  • Compliance with Standards: Examiners must adhere to the IELTS Professional Support Network and British Council policies, ensuring that all assessments are conducted in accordance with the required standards.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Examiners must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to effectively interact with test takers, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  • Professional Attributes: Examiners must demonstrate a range of professional attributes, including the ability to work accurately and efficiently, maintain confidentiality, and respond positively to guidance and advice.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Examiners must hold an undergraduate degree or a qualification(s) that can be demonstrated to be equivalent to an undergraduate degree. A recognized qualification in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL/TEFL) or recognized equivalent as part of a recognized university award course is also required.
  • Experience: Examiners must have at least 3 years' full-time (or the equivalent part-time) relevant TESOL teaching experience, with the majority of this experience relating to adult students (16 years and over).
  • DBS Check: Examiners must hold or be willing to comply with a UK government Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check (or Garda Vetting equivalent in Ireland).
  • Eligibility to Work: Examiners must have eligibility to live and work in the UK/Ireland.

Working Conditions:

  • Working Hours: Examiners will typically work on Saturdays, with test taker volumes varying. Each speaking test takes 20 minutes to complete and assess, and 20-minute breaks are mandatory after every 6 test takers.
  • Pay Rate: Examiners will be paid £12 per test taker (€13.92), inclusive of holiday pay.
  • Expenses: A maximum amount of up to £25.00 (€29.00) per test day, regardless of mode or modes of travel, will be paid to Examiners working at their usual test venue and also as per any receipt submitted.
