Senior Stress Engineer

A leading Aerospace and Defence company, CBSbutler, has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Stress Engineer to join their Design team.

The design department is responsible for designing new and modified rocket motors and related systems. Key responsibilities include:

Technical Responsibilities

  • Performing stress analysis of new and existing rocket motor systems, including structural and thermal analysis using Finite Element Analysis software.
  • Utilizing various software and programming techniques, including Abaqus, Altair-Hyperworks, Fortran, and Matlab.
  • Conducting rheological analysis of material testing results and providing expert advice to the technical community for validation and verification of Finite Element Analysis models.
  • Developing motor structural test plans and participating in the delivery and assessment of structural testing results.
  • Acting as the structural performance technical authority for assigned projects, including supporting project customer meetings, project investigations, design reviews, and corresponding with customer stress engineers.
  • Delivering key project documentation, including structural analysis and structural test plans and reports, and structural design records.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level in an engineering discipline, such as Mechanical, Aerospace, or Structural Engineering, or a related field like Materials Science.
  • Strong knowledge of materials science and its applications.
  • Proficiency in using ABAQUS software in a professional or academic environment.
  • Experience with CAD modeling and design.
