The Multi-Activity Instructor role at Barracudas Activity Day Camps involves overseeing and facilitating engaging activities for children during summer camps. The working hours are from 08:30 to 17:00, with a competitive weekly salary ranging from £405.69 to £530.76, depending on age, experience, and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and maintain the activity area to ensure it is safe and inviting for participants.
- Adhere to policies and procedures to provide a fun and secure environment for children.
- Design and conduct exciting sessions that are age-appropriate, utilizing training received.
- Deliver safety instructions and equipment demonstrations, ensuring compliance.
- Provide active supervision and attention to the needs of children throughout the day, including during breaks and meals.
- Complete necessary paperwork related to activity sessions accurately on a daily and weekly basis.
- Encourage full participation from all children in the group.
- Collaborate with fellow staff members to enhance the activity experience.
- Regularly check and maintain activity equipment.
- Take responsibility for the overall welfare and safeguarding of participants.
- Lead specific skill-building courses as required.
- Ensure the activity site remains tidy and that all equipment is properly stored.
- Guarantee the safe use of all equipment during sessions.
- Complete a complimentary 1-day Multi Activity course prior to starting employment.
- Must be at least 18 years old at the start of the contract.
- Eligibility to work in the UK is required.
- Provide satisfactory professional or academic references.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm, care, organization, and excellent communication skills, with the ability to take initiative.
- Obtain an enhanced DBS check through Barracudas or possess an existing enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
- Participate in a Virtual Assessment Event if new to Barracudas.
- Complete annual online training.
- Attend an Induction Training Day before the first working season.
- Assist with the end-of-camp pack-up process.
- Ensure compliance with all Health and Safety obligations by following instructions and demonstrating a proactive approach to safety.
- Organize and deliver activities appropriate for the children based on qualifications and knowledge.
- Encourage children to engage in new activities and adhere to the scheduled program.
- Maintain awareness of children's safety and whereabouts, respecting them as individuals and communicating daily about behavior expectations.
- Follow all camp systems, including registration and collection procedures, and support colleagues in doing the same.
- Act as a positive role model by promoting healthy lifestyles and good hygiene practices.
- Report any Child Protection concerns to the Senior Team or designated personnel.
- Make reasonable adjustments to accommodate children with additional needs or medical conditions.
- Depending on staff availability, assist with Skills Builder sessions.
- All staff may be required to support swimming sessions.
- Be prepared to undertake various tasks as needed based on changing roles and organizational objectives.
