Position Overview

Quarriers is seeking a Lead Culinary Specialist for our innovative William Quarriers Scottish Epilepsy Centre (WQSEC) situated in Govan. If you thrive on variety and creativity in the kitchen, this role is tailored for you.

Your Responsibilities

We are in search of a part-time Lead Culinary Specialist who will oversee and deliver imaginative meals daily for patients and staff at WQSEC. You will bring your culinary expertise to an environment where individuals undergo significant life changes while receiving assessments for epilepsy and treatment outcomes.

As the Lead Culinary Specialist, you will be instrumental in crafting nutritious, customized meals that align with patient dietary requirements, ensuring each individual enjoys a positive dining experience. Your duties will include managing food supplies, conducting audits, and creatively designing menus that satisfy and fulfill our patients. Additionally, you will maintain kitchen inventory, mentor kitchen staff, collaborate with the development manager on corporate events, and guarantee that customer service is upheld to the highest standards.

Work Schedule: This is a part-time position requiring 3 days of work within a 7-day period. The working hours are from 10 AM to 6 PM. Flexibility is essential, as you will be expected to cover for team members during annual leave and assist with scheduled corporate events to support the broader catering service.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Creativity and a deep understanding of food to cater to individual dietary needs.
  • Essential certifications in food hygiene, health & safety, and infection control.
  • Prior experience in mentoring and supporting kitchen staff.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a similar culinary environment or related setting.
  • Familiarity with Environmental Health Standards.
  • Dependable and adaptable.
  • Strong communication and organizational abilities.
