Your Role Overview
We are in search of a part-time Lead Culinary Specialist who will oversee and deliver imaginative meals daily for both patients and staff at WQSEC. Your passion for cooking will shine in an environment where individuals undergo transformative experiences while receiving assessment and treatment for epilepsy.
As the Lead Culinary Specialist , you will be instrumental in crafting nutritious, customized meals that cater to specific dietary requirements, ensuring that every individual enjoys a positive dining experience. Your responsibilities will include managing catering inventory, conducting audits, and having the creative freedom to design menus that satisfy and delight patients. Additionally, you will maintain kitchen supplies, mentor culinary staff, collaborate with the development manager on corporate events, and uphold the highest standards of customer service.
Work Schedule: This part-time position requires working 3 days within a 7-day period, with hours from 10 AM to 6 PM. Flexibility is essential, as you will be expected to cover for team members during annual leave and assist with scheduled corporate events to ensure the delivery of appetizing meals to those utilizing the centre's conference facilities.
Essential Qualifications for the Role
- A creative approach and understanding of food to effectively design and cater to individual dietary needs.
- A valid food hygiene certificate, along with knowledge of Health & Safety and Infection Control protocols.
- Prior experience in mentoring and supporting kitchen staff.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a similar culinary environment or related setting focused on cooking and meal preparation.
- Familiarity with Environmental Health Standards.
- A dependable and adaptable nature.
- Strong communication and organizational abilities.
