Junior Sister/Charge Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Junior Sister/Charge Nurse to join our dynamic team in the Emergency Department at Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the smooth operation of our busy department.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Management
- Supervise and mentor junior staff to ensure they have the knowledge, skills, and resources to provide high-quality patient care.
- Develop and implement plans of care, ensuring high standards of evidence-based practice.
- Collaborate with the senior team to ensure the needs of patients are met through the delivery of high-quality care.
- Patient Care
- Undertake unsupervised assessments of patient care needs and develop, implement, and evaluate plans of care.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing empathy and reassurance regarding assessment, care, and treatment.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive nursing records using appropriate documentation.
- Teamwork and Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to promote good communication and a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.
- Participate in the audit of the principles of the Essence of Care benchmarking process and implement action plans as required.
- Education and Qualifications
- 1st level registration as a nurse.
- Emergency care course or equivalent.
- Mentorship or practice assessor course or equivalent.
- Evidence of continuing educational and professional development.
- Skills and Aptitudes
- Advanced communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage workload.
- Basic counseling skills - ability to understand the needs of the bereaved.
- Able to act as a mentor to junior staff.
- Personal Qualities
- A mature and professional attitude/enthusiastic and positive.
- Displays compassion and understanding.
- Experience
- Demonstrates clinical expertise relevant to ED.
- Post-registration experience working in an acute hospital.
- Evidence of teaching others.
