Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Operating Department Practitioner to provide high-quality patient care in the theatre environment. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Orthopaedics, critical care, and medical terminology.

Responsibilities
  • Manage own workload in a designated highly specialist area without supervision, using all forms of knowledge, skills, and experience required to undertake duties competently.
  • Demonstrate complex communication and relationship skills, promoting and maintaining effective liaison throughout the Unit team and with the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Ensure the Health and Safety of all staff, patients, and visitors, reporting incidents/accidents/near misses to the team leader.
  • Provide accurate and timely collection and submission of Theatre activity data, using manual and computerised systems.
  • Ensure safe quality care is provided for patients within the Unit, adhering to Trust and Unit policies.
  • Maintain an understanding of and adhere to all Trust and Unit policies and procedures, ensuring attendance of mandatory annual training.
  • Participate in the identification/analysis of risk.
Requirements
  • Diploma in Operating Department Practice (or equivalent) or RGN with relevant Anaesthetic Qualification.
  • Ability to work between anaesthetics and recovery.
  • Experience in the theatre environment.
  • Commitment to maintain own skills and standard of care.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable

Specialist orthopaedic knowledge.
