Operating Department Practitioner

We are seeking a skilled Operating Department Practitioner to provide high-quality patient care in the theatre environment. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Orthopaedics, critical care, and medical terminology.
Responsibilities- Manage own workload in a designated highly specialist area without supervision, using all forms of knowledge, skills, and experience required to undertake duties competently.
- Demonstrate complex communication and relationship skills, promoting and maintaining effective liaison throughout the Unit team and with the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Ensure the Health and Safety of all staff, patients, and visitors, reporting incidents/accidents/near misses to the team leader. Document and monitor the safe use of equipment and economic use of supplies.
- Provide accurate and timely collection and submission of appropriate Theatre activity data, using manual and computerised systems.
- Ensure safe quality care is provided for patients within the Unit, adhering to Trust and Unit policies.
- Maintain an understanding of and adhere to all Trust and Unit policies and procedures, ensuring attendance of mandatory annual training.
- Participate in the identification/analysis of risk.
- Diploma in Operating Department Practice (or equivalent) or RGN with relevant Anaesthetic Qualification.
- Ability to work between anaesthetics and recovery.
- Experience in the theatre environment.
- Commitment to maintain own skills and standard of care.
- Problem solving skills.
- Ability to work without direct supervision.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Specialist orthopaedic knowledge.
Contract Details- Full-time, Fixed term contract.
