Are you passionate about customer engagement and project execution? We are seeking a dedicated Preconstruction Operations Manager to enhance our Midlands division.

This role offers flexibility, allowing you to work from various locations, including our Nottingham office, your home, and client sites primarily in the East Midlands.

Reporting to the Preconstruction Director, the ideal candidate will exhibit strong leadership qualities and oversee the successful delivery of project proposals, ensuring they are completed on schedule, within financial constraints, and to the highest standards, consistently meeting and exceeding client expectations.

With a solid history of managing successful projects, you will take charge of both single and dual-stage tenders for initiatives valued between £10 million and £100 million across diverse sectors such as Residential, Educational, Recreational, Commercial, Emergency Services, and Healthcare.

As a Preconstruction Operations Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Inspiring and guiding a bid team comprising both internal (estimators, design experts, MEP specialists, proposal writers, and planners) and external (supply chain partners and consultants) resources.
  • Facilitating initial workshops with clients, utilizing your exceptional listening abilities to grasp the core motivations behind their projects, thereby equipping your team to excel.
  • Managing client expectations through both informal and formal assessments, maintaining a professional demeanor to foster positive working relationships.
  • Formulating and integrating project strategies that align with the company's sustainability goals.
  • Conducting regular progress monitoring and reporting, identifying potential risks and opportunities, and implementing proactive and corrective measures as necessary.
  • Encouraging continuous professional development for yourself and your team to ensure technical proficiency, applying best practices, and driving ongoing improvements.
  • Promoting a collaborative approach to ensure a smooth transition from preconstruction to operational phases.

Essential and Desirable Qualifications:

For this dynamic position, you will need proven experience in:

  • Outstanding leadership capabilities.
  • Effective time management.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • A technical grasp of intricate construction projects.
  • Delivering exceptional service to clients and stakeholders.

Desirable qualifications include:

  • A degree in a construction-related field.
  • Membership in the CIOB or a similar organization.
  • Experience in managing bids across various construction sectors.
