Job Overview

InSite Technical Services is a leading design and engineering consultancy that delivers projects in the Oil & Gas, LNG, Nuclear, and Renewables industries. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team as a Technical Lead.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical direction and inputs to electrical team personnel, ensuring the technical quality of deliverables and delivery of technical documents in accordance with schedule and budget.
  • Review and approve engineering documents, such as calculations, specifications, datasheets, and reports, to ensure compliance with specification and functional integrity.
  • Support the preparation and review of drawings, including general arrangements, layouts, block diagrams, single-line diagrams, etc.
  • Ensure all deliverables are aligned with company and client procedures and applicable standards, and that documents are originated, checked, and approved by suitably competent personnel.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and vendors to ensure effective project execution.
  • Lead on project technical decisions, coordinating electrical activities with other engineering disciplines.
  • Attend internal and external project review meetings, monitoring changes in scope of work and raising change notifications with Project Managers.
  • Contribute to project schedules and cost estimates, identifying scope of work required to undertake a project and estimating deliverables and hours required to deliver a project.
  • Mentor junior members of the Electrical team, providing guidance and support to ensure their professional development.
Requirements
  • Engineering degree or relevant industry experience.
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards.
  • Effective leadership skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to interface and liaise with key client and internal stakeholders.
  • Significant, demonstrable experience in detailed design engineering.
  • Experience of carrying out cable sizing calculations using Amtech, Electrical, OM, or similar software.
  • Strong knowledge of HV systems (up to 11/33kV).
  • Experienced in electrical studies, including load studies, fault studies, and protection coordination using ETAP or similar software.
  • Familiar with ATEX requirements.
  • Earthing design experience preferred but not mandatory.
  • Lighting design experience preferred but not mandatory.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of relevant Oil & Gas Industry Codes and Standards.
  • Competent in the use of MS Office applications.
  • Exposure to mentoring of junior team members and apprentices.
