About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Cost Consultant to join our team at Mace, a leading global consultancy. As a key member of our Consult business, you will play a critical role in supporting the implementation of significant enhancements to our clients' wastewater networks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate the commercial aspects of planned works orders, ensuring feasibility, value for money, and contractual robustness.
  • Develop and execute the sourcing strategy, assessing suppliers' proposals to ensure they offer viable and dependable solutions to business requirements.
  • Review, test, and enhance the costs linked with work orders, identifying and delivering opportunities for improvement.
  • Assess risks and opportunities to implement effective management strategies for success.
  • Negotiate and finalize terms of work orders and compensation claims with contractors.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the capital works sourcing strategy and frameworks.
  • Sourcing capital works, goods, and services through supply chain partners.
  • Negotiate contractual and cost-related matters.
  • Conduct tenders and negotiations.
  • Ensure achievement of savings targets.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor for Civil Engineering & Building Projects, preferably in the water sector.
  • Strong background in commercial and engineering roles, along with a relevant professional qualification like CIPS, RICS, or C Eng.
  • Considerable commercial experience in managing contracts and suppliers, preferably with expertise in civil engineering contractors and/or consultant engineers.
  • Proficiency in supplier management.
  • Thorough knowledge of contract law, particularly with experience in NEC contract terms.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate project costs comprehensively and uncover efficiencies.
  • A track record of successfully managing large-scale projects.
  • Experience and understanding of procurement processes, such as managing tenders and contracts.
  • Highly numerate with exceptional analytical skills.
  • Capability to work with various software, including developing and maintaining spreadsheets and databases.
  • Familiarity with EU Procurement Regulations is advantageous.
