This is a remarkable opportunity to become part of a dynamic finance team dedicated to supporting philanthropic initiatives within the Development & Alumni Department at the University of Edinburgh. We seek a motivated and well-organized individual with relevant experience in finance and the charitable sector.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will provide essential support to the Senior Finance Officer in managing all monthly contributions received by the University of Edinburgh Development Trust. Key responsibilities include the efficient processing, documentation, and reconciliation of donations, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
As a Financial Operations Coordinator, you will be instrumental in guaranteeing that all contributions are accurately recorded and attributed to the appropriate donors. You will also assist in preparing the gift aid claims and maintaining the gift aid declaration database. Additionally, you will lead the month-end reconciliation process, enabling the team to facilitate the timely transfer of donations to the broader University.
This position also encompasses administrative duties within the finance team, including but not limited to: maintaining detailed procedural documentation, coordinating team schedules, and ensuring the organized filing of both digital and physical records.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proficient in financial and database management systems, with a minimum of three years of experience in a finance-related role.
- Strong Excel skills and experience in preparing financial reconciliations.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and analytical proficiency.
- Experience in handling sensitive financial information with discretion.
- Familiarity with processing various forms of payments, including CAF, cheques, and card transactions.
- Background in the Higher Education sector.
- Knowledge of UK Charity law, including Gift Aid and GDPR regulations.
