Position Overview

The Director of Product Excellence is tasked with shaping the strategy and execution of product quality that meets customer expectations. This role encompasses oversight of the entire production process, from initial concept quality targets to engineering quality during development, culminating in final product audits and issue resolution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the Product and Operational Quality strategy to ensure vehicles are produced correctly on the first attempt.
  • Oversee Perceived Quality initiatives, including benchmarking, target establishment, performance measurement, and resolution of quality issues.
  • Manage product and operational quality metrics, providing comprehensive KPI reporting to the Leadership Team across all projects.
  • Drive continuous improvement through production reviews, identifying opportunities for enhancement, particularly through Lean Thinking methodologies.
  • Represent Product and Operational Quality in design evaluations to ensure manufacturability and assembly considerations are integrated into engineering designs.
  • Collaborate with Compliance teams to ensure vehicles adhere to OEM CoP compliance standards, including final customer approvals.
  • Establish and manage the Vehicle Issue Management process, ensuring effective resolution and KPI tracking.
  • Oversee the end-of-line vehicle handover process, ensuring smooth transitions from production to customer delivery.

  • Foster strong relationships within the team, providing guidance for professional development, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Encourage and motivate team members to achieve organizational, departmental, and individual goals through the Performance Development Process.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings to support team member growth.
  • Manage daily team operations and ensure equitable workload distribution.
  • Plan and assess departmental activities, delegating tasks as necessary.
  • Oversee team resources and collaborate with internal recruitment when required.
  • Lead by example and uphold a standard of excellence.
  • Address conflicts, resolve issues, and implement problem-solving strategies.
  • Communicate organizational goals and share relevant information effectively.
