Position Overview

The Youth Employment Advisor role presents a unique opportunity to offer personalized career guidance to a group of young individuals, focusing on enhancing their skills to facilitate their transition into stable employment, educational pursuits, apprenticeships, and training programs. Advocating for the rights and requirements of those who have navigated the care system, you will engage with various referral partners and have the chance to conduct interactive employability workshops.

This position is dedicated to assisting young individuals who have been involved with the care system.

Participants will be located in various boroughs across South East London.


Candidate Profile
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities, with a talent for building rapport and creating a comfortable environment.
  • Adaptable, persuasive, and patient, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and a positive mindset.
  • Driven by targets and results, possessing strong organizational and administrative capabilities, along with the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Capable of managing pressure and meeting deadlines to produce necessary reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Overseeing a small group of young individuals with career development plans, accurately assessing their needs, challenges, aspirations, strengths, and areas for growth, while providing appropriate referrals.
  • Delivering high-quality support and guidance for young individuals in our employability initiatives, ensuring they maintain progress towards apprenticeships and sustainable employment.
  • Facilitating both individual and group sessions focused on interview skills, job searches, CV preparation, and confidence enhancement to equip young individuals for interviews with potential employers.
  • Creating goal-oriented action plans for young individuals, assisting with CVs, cover letters, job applications, and organizing interviews as necessary.
  • Engaging with the local community and conducting outreach to successfully identify young individuals for employability programs, including supporting relevant events and workshops.
  • Ensuring all data is securely stored and progress is accurately documented.
  • Maintaining timely communication of essential documents and information to uphold high standards of contractual compliance and operational performance.
  • Adhering to all relevant policies and procedures, including Safeguarding, Health and Safety, and Diversity and Equality.

Qualifications
  • Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths or equivalent (or willingness to achieve in role).
  • Strong IT skills, particularly with Microsoft Teams and Office.
  • A relevant professional qualification in coaching or Information, Advice, and Guidance (IAG) is advantageous.
  • We welcome applicants with experience in the care system.

  • Salary: Competitive annual salary.
  • Work Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week.
