Job Title: Respiratory Medicine Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Respiratory Medicine Consultant to join our team at Swansea Bay University Health Board. As a Respiratory Medicine Consultant, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and leading the sleep service for the Health board.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a forward-thinking organization that values innovation and excellence. As a Respiratory Medicine Consultant, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team that includes Respiratory Nurse Specialists, Respiratory Physiotherapists, and Pulmonary Physiologists. You will work closely with our experienced Thoracic Radiologists and on-site Thoracic Surgeons to provide comprehensive care to patients with respiratory conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the sleep service for the Health board, working closely with physiologists and a multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide high-quality patient care, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of respiratory conditions.
  • Develop and implement effective working relationships with all levels of staff, including management and clinical colleagues.
  • Contribute to the care of inpatients on the Respiratory ward and the respiratory retrieval rota in Morriston Hospital.
  • Participate in clinical audit and understand the role of audit in improving medical practice.
  • Initiate, progress, and conclude research projects with publication.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Registration with the GMC and a license to practice.
  • On Specialist Register with GMC (including via CESR/European Community Rights) as a specialist in Respiratory Medicine or eligible for CCTCESR/CP within 6 months of date of interview.
  • Valid Certified Basic Life Support Skills (or equivalent international qualification).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, relatives, and staff.
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary and multi-agency team.
