Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Medicine Consultant to join our forward-thinking team at Swansea Bay University Health Board. As a specialist in Respiratory Medicine, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our respiratory services.

Main Duties

As a Respiratory Medicine Consultant, you will be expected to:

  • Lead the sleep service for the Health board, working closely with physiologists and a multidisciplinary team.
  • Contribute to the care of inpatients on the Respiratory ward and the respiratory retrieval rota in Morriston Hospital.
  • Work closely with our experienced Thoracic Radiologists and on-site Thoracic Surgeons to provide comprehensive respiratory care.
  • Develop and implement effective working relationships with all levels of staff, including junior doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in clinical audit and research projects to improve medical practice and contribute to the development of our respiratory services.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Registration with the GMC and a license to practice.
  • On Specialist Register with GMC (including via CESR/European Community Rights) as a specialist in Respiratory Medicine or eligible for CCTCESR/CP within 6 months of date of interview.
  • Valid Certified Basic Life Support Skills (or equivalent international qualification).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, relatives, and staff.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement, with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and develop skills.
