In alignment with NHS Scotland's initiative to reduce the full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours, effective from April 2024, this position reflects the new working hours. Please note that while this change will be implemented, some service areas may require temporary adjustments, necessitating up to an additional 30 minutes of work per week until new rosters are established. Shift Pattern: 37 – 12-hour rotational shifts.

An exciting opportunity has emerged within the Care of the Elderly sector for a dedicated individual to take on the role of Charge Nurse. This position involves leading, implementing, and evaluating high standards of nursing care.

Ward Overview: Ward 54 is a 30-bedded unit specializing in Acute Medicine for the Elderly, where our team provides care for some of the most dependent and vulnerable patients, addressing a wide range of medical conditions and clinical needs. Your primary responsibility will be to lead your team in delivering exceptional patient care.

  • Oversee both qualified and unqualified staff members.
  • Facilitate appropriate learning opportunities for all team members, promoting best practices to ensure high-quality patient care in accordance with the CAS standards framework.
  • Demonstrate motivation, organization, and excellent communication skills, with a strong desire to enhance your leadership and managerial capabilities.
  • Report to the Senior Charge Nurse for clinical guidance and professional management, and act as a deputy when necessary.
  • Exhibit strong leadership qualities, confident communication, and effective organizational skills.
  • Show evidence of personal development and a willingness to contribute to educational initiatives and audits.
  • Possess substantial experience at band 5 level in a relevant healthcare setting, along with a high level of IT proficiency.
  • Maintain a solid understanding of policies, procedures, and national targets to support the team effectively.
