As part of our commitment to improving work-life balance, NHS Scotland is transitioning to a reduced full-time working week of 37 hours starting from April 2024, maintaining current salary levels. This change will also apply to part-time staff on a pro-rata basis. Please note that some service areas may require temporary adjustments to working hours until the new schedules are fully implemented.

An exciting opportunity has emerged within our Hyper-Acute Stroke unit for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to assume the role of Lead Nurse. In this position, you will work closely with the Senior Charge Nurse, providing clinical direction and professional oversight. You will also step in for the Senior Charge Nurse as needed.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and motivating your team to deliver exceptional patient care.
  • Supervising both qualified and unqualified staff members.
  • Ensuring that all staff have access to appropriate learning opportunities and promoting best practices.
  • Upholding high standards of patient care in alignment with the CAS standards framework.

To excel in this role, you should possess strong leadership qualities, effective communication skills, and excellent organizational abilities. A commitment to personal development and a willingness to engage in educational initiatives and audits are essential. You should have a solid understanding of relevant policies, procedures, and national targets to effectively support your team.

Candidates must be a Registered Nurse with the NMC and have significant post-registration experience, including relevant managerial and clinical expertise. The role involves a rotational shift pattern of 12 hours across Monday to Sunday.
