About the Role:

Encompass LATC LTD is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Homeless Support Specialist to join our team in the Housing Advice, Information and Assessment Service. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering an effective and efficient Homelessness Prevention and Statutory assessment service to meet the needs of service users.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess eligibility for accommodation and make complex decisions regarding statutory homelessness duties.
  • Issue robust decision letters aligned with legislation.
  • Provide expert advice in areas such as Security of Tenure, Possessions Proceedings, Housing Options, and Welfare Benefits.
  • Take a casework approach to seek out solutions and provide support to service users.

Requirements:

  • In-depth working knowledge of Part VI and VII of the Housing Act 1996 (as amended).
  • Significant experience of making complex homelessness decisions.
  • Good working knowledge of Housing Options and legislation.
  • Ability to interpret and explain complex legislation and guidance.
  • Demonstrable customer-focused attitude.
