Job Title: Environmental Health Officer

Join our team as an Environmental Health Officer and contribute to the delivery of the council's environmental protection functions.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Health Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for investigating statutory nuisance complaints, pollution control, environmental permitting, contaminated land investigation, stray dogs, public health, and other related tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate statutory nuisance complaints and take appropriate action
  • Conduct pollution control and environmental permitting activities
  • Investigate contaminated land and take remedial action
  • Provide day-to-day supervision, advice, guidance, and technical support to environmental protection officers
  • Comment on planning and licensing applications
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 3 years' practical experience in environmental health
  • Evidence of training and/or experience in environmental permitting, local air quality management, acoustics and noise control, and contaminated land
  • Successful completion of the relevant qualification and EHRB registration
  • Hold or be willing to work towards the Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control Measurement (Institute of Acoustics) and the Certification in Integrated Pollution, Prevention and Control (IPPC)
