Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Health Housing Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering the council's environmental protection functions, including investigation of statutory nuisance complaints, pollution control, environmental permitting, and contaminated land investigation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate statutory nuisance complaints and take appropriate action to resolve them.
  • Work with the public, private sector, and other stakeholders to prevent and control pollution.
  • Provide technical and developmental support to environmental protection officers within the team.
  • Comment on planning and licensing applications to ensure they meet environmental standards.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision, advice, guidance, and technical support to the environmental protection officers within the team.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience in environmental health and housing.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental protection laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
