Role Overview

The Mobile Plant Operator is responsible for the proficient operation of various mobile and static machinery within the site, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and operational guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate the Loading Shovel and other mobile plant machinery as directed by Site Management, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Conduct general maintenance tasks on equipment as required by Heidelberg Materials.
  • Perform daily inspections of mobile plant machinery and complete necessary documentation.
  • Report any issues or defects to the Production Supervisor promptly.
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness and functionality through regular refueling, greasing, and cleaning in line with manufacturer and company recommendations.
  • Strive for economical operation of all plant machinery.
  • Complete near miss reports as per Site Management directives.
Experience and Qualifications
  • Proven ability to operate mobile plant machinery safely and effectively.
  • Understanding and adherence to the company’s health and safety policies.
  • Familiarity with Quarry Regulations 1999 and the Company Environmental Policy.
  • Certification by EPIC for mobile plant operation is essential.
  • NVQ Level 2 in mobile plant operations is required following EPIC completion.

  • Ensure operations are conducted in accordance with established procedures to prevent fraudulent activities.
  • Adhere to the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Company Safety Policy.
  • Proactively manage the health and safety of all employees to enhance overall performance.
  • Engage in continuous learning and attend relevant training and development courses.
  • Understand and implement HR Policies and Procedures of the Company.
  • Possess a good general education to effectively understand and apply health and safety regulations.
Compensation and Benefits

Salary: £12.95 per hour, based on experience, with potential productivity bonuses and overtime.

Hours: 39.5 hours per week.
