We are seeking an experienced Customs Documentation Clerk to join our team at Red Recruit, a leading recruitment agency specializing in freight and shipping.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce customs declarations and ensure all clearance processes are completed in a compliant and timely manner.
- Provide professional and effective administration support to the Customs Clearing / Multimodal Team.
- Complete day-to-day customs clearing and entries for all sea and road freight shipments, including EADs & T1s.
- Manage and maintain accurate documentation as each case progresses.
- Handle customer enquiries and provide accurate advice and estimates when required.
- Communicate with external organizations, such as HMRC, Port Authorities, Shipping Lines, and Hauliers.
- Process payments from customers in line with company policy.
- Calculate duty/VAT costs for each consignment.
- Process import/export declarations.
- Deal with general enquiries from importers/exporters, internal and external sources, concerning customs procedures, tariff classifications, duty rates, and documentation requirements.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in regulations, laws, and customs procedures.
Requirements:
- 2 years of experience in a similar role.
- HMRC - Customs declarations experience, imports and exports.
- Experience of dealing with T1's, POA, EAD, Transit documents.
- Attention to detail is crucial to ensure compliance and pass HMRC audits.
- Excellent communication skills to keep all relevant departments informed.
- Experience of checking and processing relevant documentation for shipments.
- Understanding of different customs procedures and requirements.
We're looking for enthusiastic individuals with 2+ years of experience in a Customs Clearance team, with good working knowledge of Destin8 and Descarte.
In return, the successful Customs Documentation Clerk will be offered a competitive salary, up to £32,000, in line with skills and experience.
